GREEK PHILOSOPHERS AND PYTHAGORAS

We're doing a bit more on Ancient Greece because there's so much to learn about it. This week I've been learning a little bit about Greek philosophers and especially Pythagoras because he influenced maths and music so much.
I read about Socrates, Plato and Aristotle and to help me remember what they did and how they thought, me and my mum made up a game called Agora (which is the Greek marketplace) which is really cool and fun to play. We also made some clay coins that you have to earn by answering the questions correctly when you land on the philosopher's podium. When you have enough coins you can buy things in the stalls at the agora and the first person to buy everything on their list in the winner. I usually win because I have a better memory than my mum!
It's always the other person who has to read out the question.
The coins have the image of an owl on them because they're from Athens and Athena was the goddess of wisdom.
This is one of the questions.
Then I made a lapbook to put pictures and things I'd learned in it.
I also learned Pythagoras' Theorem which is pretty easy, especially with a calculator!

GREEK GODS AND STUFF

Because we're now at Ancient Greece in our Story of the World book in the History Club, I looked at some sites on the Internet about the gods and goddesses of Ancient Greece. I can't remember where I got these pictures from, but they're really cool for colouring in and I used them to make a short book of a few of the ones I liked best.
The book I wrote them in was an old First Words Book, recycled especially for the project.

A MÉRIDA LAPBOOK

After our trip to Mérida, I made a lapbook of all the things I remembered learning and used the photos that I took while I was there. I made the lapbook from book packaging cardboard and my mum helped me with the stone drawings inside the lapbook.

VIKINGS

This is a lapbook about Vikings. I did all the research myself and found pictures on the Internet.
I love the way they eat their chicken!

TITANIC

I did a project on the TITANIC because I am a fan and it was its 100th anniversary. It is a very cool boat. I used an old picture book with holes to make it look like the portholes on a boat.

A CHINESE LAPBOOK

When I started Chinese language classes with some friends, I also learned a little bit about the country and its history.
Then I made a lapbook in the shape of the Great Wall and put in stuff like the Dynasties, inventions, the 1st Chinese Emperor, a bit about the Wall, geography and martial arts, etc.
It was fun trying to do some calligraphy of the Chinese characters. I think they're really nice to draw.

THE DINOSAURS OF SORIA

This is Soria, in the Tierras Altas (Highlands) famous for their ichnites. We went to see them and some models of various dinos.
They are magnificent.
This is dad checking out the ornithopod..
These are ichnites. They are sweeeeeet.
Now, that is something you don't see every day - a dino walking down the street.
Nice pointy theropod ichnites, eh?
That's an old toothless dinosaur!
While we were there, we went to the Palaeontology Centre that has more prints and lots of models of dinos.
This one is eating someone else's eggs.

When I got home I was inspired to do my own dinosaur park.
I made the mud all mushy to look like the marshes of ancient Soria.
This is how we know so much about these dinosaurs now, because of the prints they left behind in the swampy mud.

Then I wrote up a lapbook about everything I have learned.
