MESOAMERICA PRESENTATION.

I made some masks of Tlaloc and Quetzalcoatl for the history club presentation because we are talking about Ancient America.
Here I made a timeline of some of the most important civilizations in Mesoamerica and I put the Inca in because it was a very important civilization even though it was down in South America.
Here I made a map of Central America. It was like a jigsaw that the other kids in the club had to put together in the right places.
The red is the Aztec civilization, the green is the Olmecs and the yellow is the Maya.
Here I am doing the presentation. First I wore the Quetzalcoatl mask then I talked about the timeline.
I talked about the first Americans and how they made their way down into all parts of the Americas.
Then we all put the map together and I showed them where the different cultures lived.
Then I talked about the religion many of the cultures shared such as the importance of the Jaguar, and the gods Quetzalcoatl and Tlaloc.
And finally there was a child sacrifice for the god Tlaloc and everyone volunteered to be sacrificed. The heart was a balloon in a red glove.
Even I, the shaman, ended up being sacrificed!!

MUSEUM OF AMERICA.

I am studying about pre-Colombian history for the History Club but I dont know what I am going to talk about because there is so much to learn.
So this week I went to the Museum of America to see some American artifacts of Aztec, Maya, Inca and other ancient American cultures and I loved it. Here are some examples of the things I saw.

THE EVOLUTION OF CHINESE WRITING

For my second History Club presentation, I chose to talk about the evolution of Chinese characters and also a bit about early Chinese rice farming.
I made a scroll with the early pictograms and talked about how they have evolved into modern Chinese characters.
Here you can see how they changed over the years and became more complicated.

Here I have a friend helping me hold the scroll while I explain the characters and pictograms.

A CHINESE LAPBOOK

When I started Chinese language classes with some friends, I also learned a little bit about the country and its history.
Then I made a lapbook in the shape of the Great Wall and put in stuff like the Dynasties, inventions, the 1st Chinese Emperor, a bit about the Wall, geography and martial arts, etc.
It was fun trying to do some calligraphy of the Chinese characters. I think they're really nice to draw.
